Morgan Blend: I live in Woodhull NY. My horses are on the old homestead in Borden NY.  My mom and I take care of them. I have 8 at the moment and they are a dukes mixture.

Reno is a 13 year old Quarter/Saddlebred gelding retired due to a back injury but a awsome teaser horse. Baby is a 12 year old Baskir Curly/Appaloosa broodmare, trail and lesson horse.

Buddy is a 12 year old Morgan/Paint gelding gaming horse.

Dobber is a 12 year old Registered Pinto Stallion which is broke to ride and I use for inside and outside breeding of mares.

Haze is a 6 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding that is used for team roping and halter show.

Orion is a 2 year old Arabian/Standardbred gelding.

Serenity is a 4 year old Registered Pinto mare that will be used as a broodmare once I figure out why she wont breed. Right now I am just trail riding her.

Dusty is a 3 year old Baskir Curly/Appaloosa gelding that is used for trails and eventually lessons.

I rodeo with them, give lessons, breed, train, buy and sell. I am enrolled in Breyer State Univeristy so I can help the horses I have in my stable and can help other people with whom I come in contact.

Mattie Cowherd:  I suppose you could say I’ve always loved horses. I’ve lived them, breathed them, slept them ---- oh, for as long as I can remember. I always have considered myself lucky. I was born into a home with horses, grew up with them, and now work with them. They are my play, my work, my life… I would have it no other way.

Our family owns and operates a riding stable and our focus is on giving our horses the most natural care. We turn the horses out in groups of 5-8 during the day, bringing them in at night. All of the horses are barefoot and our care practices are aimed at health – mentally, emotionally, and physically. Often visitors comment on how calm, happy, and friendly our equine companions are.

My life revolves daily around my four-footed friends, and especially my own two – Kami and Sterling. Kami is a 16.3 hh bay thoroughbred mare with a “Miss Congeniality” personality, a head for mischief, and lots of controlled energy. She’s one of our lead mares and has always just had the air of “let me lead, please” which the other horses follow willingly. For a leader, she is fair, firm, but never nasty. We have been together about 6 ½ years now. Together, we have almost completed Level III of Pat Parelli’s savvy system and hope to have our green string soon. We also have been jumping partners since the time I bought her. Sterling is perhaps Kami’s opposite in most ways. A (smaller) 15.3 hh, flea-bitten grey Appendix Quarter Horse, he is not very dominant in the herd, wears his feelings out on his sleeve, and is “hot and stingy”. But he’s a liberty master, too --- I’ve never had more fun playing with a horse at liberty than with him. He is so sensitive! He lived with a Parelli instructor (my mentor) for six years before she gave him to me. She liked to run barrels but Sterling had been injured and never quite up to the job of turning sharply ever since --- he is much happier jumping anyhow (which suits me just fine)! He also is nearly through Level III. It is so nice to have two such advanced horses.

I want to continue to be a natural practitioner with horses. I am a barefoot trimmer (and yes, everything we have on the place is barefoot). We live in the Rocky Mountains and do “extreme” trail rides with barefoot horses. I also am a distributor for Dynamite Marketing – a natural supplement company, whose main goal is health, wellness, and holistic education. I also would like to be a Parelli instructor one day.

I was so excited to see an on-line course that would allow me to study horses without me having to be present on a campus! I was so excited to be able to mix natural horsemanship and care practices with a Bachelor’s and build a greater foundation in horse care and business without having to sacrifice my own beliefs and horse care practices. I look forward to a great experience with other horse lovers and would welcome chats with my fellow students.

Take care to all of you, and May the Horse Be With You!!!

Meaghan Blanzy:  I've always been that girl who wanted a pony every year from Santa. Santa never brought me one. Nobody in my family has ever been around or knows anything about horses. I was on my own. My dad persuaded me to get into dirt bikes and hunting for a few years. That soon wore off when I was 16 years old. I went back to loving horses. I read about them, and started trail riding once a month with my best friend at the time. I was then told the place I was at was very uneducated and was putting us on very green horses. My mom's friend introduced me to her horse trainer, Cathy. Cathy took me under her wing, let me ride her quarter horse gelding, Charlie, and taught me how to ride. I flourished. Cathy took a special liking to me. She helped me learn, shared her techniques and made me who I am today. She sold me my 8 year old paint mare named Gunny. Gunny had about 60 days on her, but Cathy helped me train her to become a novice show horse. I have 19 blue ribbons on my wall and 3 year end high point grand champion ribbons as well.

Training Gunny has inspired me to have a job with horses. I want to train horses and share my passion with others, just like Cathy did for me. I love horses, even though I haven't been around them more than 4 years.

I'm 19 years old and I'm from a small town in Central Michigan.  I ride western, but have a huge respect for English riders. I am interested in getting my horse training certificate, to have a job training horses and my own facility some day. I'm very friendly and love talking horses. If you ever want to contact me, please feel free to do so!

Carly Acosta: I am 25 (26 in Feb., 2009).  I have been around horses since the age of 4.  I have always had a love for these magnificant animals, and knew that somehow I would be deeply involved with them!!  I currently have a rescued TB gelding (Charlie Boy) Who is my love.

I showed western when I was young, but mostly did "back-yard" ridding. I never used a saddle growing up unless absolutely necessary.  I loved the feeling of being "one" with the horse!! I spend a lot of time with my horse and my mom's horses. (She has 3).  I have come to be part of the "herd".

Most days I do my studying with the horses, and more times than not they are laying down next to me!  I have taken Reiki classes and put this into action with the horses! Abc 30 just did a story on it!!!

Ultimately, I want to help horses!!! I am currently looking into starting a non-profit for unwanted and abused horses in the central valley (California) and all over.  There is a huge need for it.  I saw
horsecoursesonline from the magazine EQUUS and I was eager to get started!!!  healingtch4equines@yahoo.com

Nathalie Chaillou:  I am 26 years old, from France, and have two horses. I have always been a rider and did different things with horses and always wanted to be working with horses. What I like most isto  create a relationship with them, make sure they are happy and in good health.
I like to understand how they feel, that's why I decided to follow the
equine massage course. I want to do it for my own horses and then offer it as a professional.  Equine massage is not a common practice in France, at the moment, and I'm pretty sure it can be a good thing for horses.  nathalie.chaillou@gmail.com

Erin Cox: I live in Buffalo, on a horse farm. It is a lesson barn that houses 40 horses. I'm not sure what exactly what I want to do with horses at this point in time. I'm really interested in breaking and training and equine facilitated psychotherapy. I am currently a riding instructor and I own three horses. My oldest, Jasmine, is a 20 year old TB. I have owned her for almost five years now. I've taken her to many hunter shows and some events. I plan on doing many more events with her over the summer. My other horse is a bay Arabian named Baraque. He is five and has been under saddle for little over a year now. My newest horse Dorey is a Frisian/TB cross who will be two in June. I've only owned her for a few months and her journey has been really interesting. I love working with green horses and love show season. I've been teaching lessons for almost a year now and have to enjoying it, I love working with the kids.  jazzifizzle89@yahoo.com

Monica Smyl: Hi!  I have not grown up with horses, but have spent the last 10 years developing my passion for them.  My latest project has been training my 5 year old Morgan mare from the ground up, and showing her in Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure and Trail.  This was a pretty big deal since I had never been in the horse world, never mind the show ring and the “fear factor” was extremely high!  But we survived and even won a few ribbons.

A couple of years ago, I thought it would be fun to have the “foaling” experience, so we purchased a QH brood mare.  What fun!  So far she has shared a bay filly and a white colt with us.  She is due to foal again at the end of May.

We have 6 horses, Morgans and Quarter Horses.  My husband and I carry on a friendly little rivalry all the time on the qualities and merits of our favorite breed.  (Everyone knows the Quarter Horse originated from the Morgan.)  Since horsing around is our hobby, we actually have to support it with our day jobs.  Both my husband and I are in Health Care, Administrator and Lab Manager.  As we near retirement, I thought it would be great to gain some knowledge and credentials in our hobby world, because when the day job is gone, we will be free to horse around all day long!

Teresa Stapleton: I am 46 years old. I have been around horses off and on all my life, thanks to my older sister. I would go spend weekends with her so I could ride her horses. She used to take me to the horse shows she was competing in, also.  I got my first horse Rosebud, about 7 years ago. She has been a wonderful horse. She was in foal when i bought her, and was not what I was looking for, but it ended up she was just what I needed. I am now riding her son, Buddy and his name suits him to a T. He is my buddy,my friend, and my companion.I love him very much. He is the reason I am taking these courses. I loved imprinting him when he was a foal, and training him with his ground work until he went to the trainers. I want to do the best for my horses, and would like to have my own training and breeding facility. I currently have 3 TWH's and I am looking for another mare. walkinghorse@iendeavor.com

Alison Mackey: I'm 36 years old and live in Winnabow, North Carolina , although Im originally from England. I have been here for 6 years now. I have ridden since I was 3 years old, but didnt get serious until about horse's still I was 15. I started helping out at a National Hunt Race barn, I would  ride out the race horse's on the gallops and school over fences, then at 19 I some how got into eventing. I worked a variity of barns over my years, mainly Competition/breeding barns. I have always enjoyed breaking young horse's, working with foals and young horse's, and stallions as well as travelling to top competitions , both nationally and internationally . I have decided to do the Equine Massage  class as I would like to get away from riding as these bones dont bounce so well any more, but I would like to stay around horses. In our area of NC we seem to have a serious lack of Massge therapists and with so many people started to seriously compete there horses, there is a need for a skilled person.

Claire Hawkins: I am 18 years old and I live in Canada. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school, I knew I wanted to do something with horses, but I wasn’t quite sure what. I had been looking at another online course from a University in Ontario, but found this one a little later and found that it sounded a whole lot better than the program here, and so here I am.

Ever since I could talk, all I kept asking my mom was to horse back ride, I wanted to go to the barn she rode at. For the first couple of years of my horse back riding career I would walk around on my mom’s friends horses, once I turned six the barn owner promised I could start taking lessons. Now twelve years later, after many lessons and leases of other peoples horses, I own 2 horses; an appendix quarter horse mare, and a thoroughbred off the track. I am a hunter/jumper/equitation rider, hoping to go far. Rummie (appendix) is a 15.3 chestnut with the attitude, she’s my first horse, I have owned her since I was 12 and she would do everything for me. My current horse, Brodie, is a grey, 16.2, off the track thoroughbred, I believe that he is my horse of a lifetime, considering he has only been off the track a year as of now he has come along in leaps and bounds, he will definitely be the horse to take me where I want to go. He is just so willing to learn and please. I have retrained him to what he is today all by myself.

I chose this course out of the reasoning that I love horses, and I don’t want to be sitting in school, listening to useless information that I will never use in life, with this course I can’t see that happening, everything I learn for this will be put into practice. I love horses and I want to work with them. I’d rather be with horses than working at a job I hate.

Shayna Winson:  I live in Hendersonville NCI love everything there is about horses, right down to the "dirty" work!  I grew up in FL and never really knew much about horses. At the age of nine I moved to NC and saw all the pasture land filled with these four legged beautys! I knew I was at home.  I started taking lessons and learned a lot from the numerous trainers I had along the way.  I never had anything given to me in the horse world. Everything I did, chores (barn and house), earned me lessons as well as my first horse Dusty, a BIG QH gelding... he was a sweet boy who kept my wild 16 year old temper tamed with our numerous bareback tromps through the woods.
When I outgrew the 16 year old fearless days and wanted to show in dressage, Dusty turned out to not be the horse I needed.  Well neither I nor my parents could afford to carry two horses so we unfortunatly had to sell Dusty to a wonderful woman who to this day loves him and treats him with respect.
Today I am 21 years old and own a Westfalen gelding with AMAZING bloodlines!  He is my dream dressage horse and we are currently training for the spring-time shows coming up! I have almost no time on my hands to go to night classes at the local college so when I saw
horsecoursesonline.com , it was a dream come true... I'm on my first course and already loving it! I love talking horses and learning from people so if you wanna strike up a conversation hit me up on my e-mail, pixiestickemt@yahoo.com !!!

Aryn Larsen: I am 21 years old and I live in a little town called Camino, CA. I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. Up until recently my horse experiences consisted of a week at cowboy camp every year. When I was old enough, I started working at the same camp which i have done for the past 4 years. It has allowed me to ride a lot of different horses at various levels of training.
My first equine was a standard daonkey named Sammy that I brought home from camp in 2006. My first horse, a young mustang named Chase, came along only a couple of months later. Now I have six horses and Sammy. Three are mustangs, two are rescued Arabs, and a QH mix. My goal is to finish my
Breyer State Equine Degree and become a trainer. I want to countinue to work with Mustangs and show what wonderful horses they are. arynlarsen@wildblue.net

Lydia Huegel: My friends know me as Hazel, I am 19 VERY soon to be 20! I have, of course, loved horses my entire life but never got a chance to experience them up close until recently. For the past few months I have been taking horse riding lessons at a farm in Allentown PA, and have also just begun volunteering there as well! I do not currently own a horse but I would soon love to lease one, I am most likely going to wait until the summer to do that. Now besides most of my time being spent with horses I am also a back up vocalist and lead guitarist in a band called No Comment. So when I am not riding around the ring or mucking out stalls I'm rocking out in my managers basement ! I love to talk about horses or basically anything so if you wanna talk just feel free to email me ! My email is littlesally2705@aim.com.
