Morgan Blend: I live in Woodhull NY. My horses are on the old homestead in Borden NY.  My mom and I take care of them. I have 8 at the moment and they are a dukes mixture.

Reno is a 13 year old Quarter/Saddlebred gelding retired due to a back injury but a awsome teaser horse. Baby is a 12 year old Baskir Curly/Appaloosa broodmare, trail and lesson horse.

Buddy is a 12 year old Morgan/Paint gelding gaming horse.

Dobber is a 12 year old Registered Pinto Stallion which is broke to ride and I use for inside and outside breeding of mares.

Haze is a 6 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding that is used for team roping and halter show.

Orion is a 2 year old Arabian/Standardbred gelding.

Serenity is a 4 year old Registered Pinto mare that will be used as a broodmare once I figure out why she wont breed. Right now I am just trail riding her.

Dusty is a 3 year old Baskir Curly/Appaloosa gelding that is used for trails and eventually lessons.

I rodeo with them, give lessons, breed, train, buy and sell. I am enrolled in Breyer State Univeristy so I can help the horses I have in my stable and can help other people with whom I come in contact.

Mattie Cowherd:  I suppose you could say I’ve always loved horses. I’ve lived them, breathed them, slept them ---- oh, for as long as I can remember. I always have considered myself lucky. I was born into a home with horses, grew up with them, and now work with them. They are my play, my work, my life… I would have it no other way.

Our family owns and operates a riding stable and our focus is on giving our horses the most natural care. We turn the horses out in groups of 5-8 during the day, bringing them in at night. All of the horses are barefoot and our care practices are aimed at health – mentally, emotionally, and physically. Often visitors comment on how calm, happy, and friendly our equine companions are.

My life revolves daily around my four-footed friends, and especially my own two – Kami and Sterling. Kami is a 16.3 hh bay thoroughbred mare with a “Miss Congeniality” personality, a head for mischief, and lots of controlled energy. She’s one of our lead mares and has always just had the air of “let me lead, please” which the other horses follow willingly. For a leader, she is fair, firm, but never nasty. We have been together about 6 ½ years now. Together, we have almost completed Level III of Pat Parelli’s savvy system and hope to have our green string soon. We also have been jumping partners since the time I bought her. Sterling is perhaps Kami’s opposite in most ways. A (smaller) 15.3 hh, flea-bitten grey Appendix Quarter Horse, he is not very dominant in the herd, wears his feelings out on his sleeve, and is “hot and stingy”. But he’s a liberty master, too --- I’ve never had more fun playing with a horse at liberty than with him. He is so sensitive! He lived with a Parelli instructor (my mentor) for six years before she gave him to me. She liked to run barrels but Sterling had been injured and never quite up to the job of turning sharply ever since --- he is much happier jumping anyhow (which suits me just fine)! He also is nearly through Level III. It is so nice to have two such advanced horses.

I want to continue to be a natural practitioner with horses. I am a barefoot trimmer (and yes, everything we have on the place is barefoot). We live in the Rocky Mountains and do “extreme” trail rides with barefoot horses. I also am a distributor for Dynamite Marketing – a natural supplement company, whose main goal is health, wellness, and holistic education. I also would like to be a Parelli instructor one day.

I was so excited to see an on-line course that would allow me to study horses without me having to be present on a campus! I was so excited to be able to mix natural horsemanship and care practices with a Bachelor’s and build a greater foundation in horse care and business without having to sacrifice my own beliefs and horse care practices. I look forward to a great experience with other horse lovers and would welcome chats with my fellow students.

Take care to all of you, and May the Horse Be With You!!!

Meaghan Blanzy:  I've always been that girl who wanted a pony every year from Santa. Santa never brought me one. Nobody in my family has ever been around or knows anything about horses. I was on my own. My dad persuaded me to get into dirt bikes and hunting for a few years. That soon wore off when I was 16 years old. I went back to loving horses. I read about them, and started trail riding once a month with my best friend at the time. I was then told the place I was at was very uneducated and was putting us on very green horses. My mom's friend introduced me to her horse trainer, Cathy. Cathy took me under her wing, let me ride her quarter horse gelding, Charlie, and taught me how to ride. I flourished. Cathy took a special liking to me. She helped me learn, shared her techniques and made me who I am today. She sold me my 8 year old paint mare named Gunny. Gunny had about 60 days on her, but Cathy helped me train her to become a novice show horse. I have 19 blue ribbons on my wall and 3 year end high point grand champion ribbons as well.

Training Gunny has inspired me to have a job with horses. I want to train horses and share my passion with others, just like Cathy did for me. I love horses, even though I haven't been around them more than 4 years.

I'm 19 years old and I'm from a small town in Central Michigan.  I ride western, but have a huge respect for English riders. I am interested in getting my horse training certificate, to have a job training horses and my own facility some day. I'm very friendly and love talking horses. If you ever want to contact me, please feel free to do so!
