Do I need to be a high school graduate…do I need some college courses to enter this program?

No; there are no academic prerequisites for enrollment.  That does not mean the courses are easy; it simply means that because the Equine Studies degree program is completely online, there are no physical location limits; our student body is worldwide.  Other schools set entrance requirements because they have a limited seating capacity.

The Breyer State Equine Studies degree program is equal to or surpasses in quality the courses at other colleges, having instructors with proven records of achievement within the fields they teach.

>  I do not live in the United States.  May I still sign up for a course?

You do not have to be a resident of the United States.  We have many students all over the world.  You must be proficient in the English language, as the courses are in English.

>  Is there financial aid?
We have affiliated with CashNetUSA.com to create a student loan program.  While we do not encourage students to take on debt, in some cases the highest priority is securing the credentials which assure future financial independence and business success.

Start any time and work at your own pace.

Each course varies in length.  The course Training Peformance Horses may take a year or more, as you actually train a horse during the course.  Some courses may be completed easily within a month.

  > I see that you also offer certification as a Horse Trainer and Riding Instructor on another web site.  If I complete the same courses through Breyer State University would I also be certified as a horse trainer and riding instructor (after taking the required courses)?
You can earn your Bachelor's degree in Equine Studies, and professional certifications as both a Horse Trainer and Riding Instructor and never duplicate a course.
Enroll in the Breyer State University degree program and when you complete the 10 courses required for a Professional Horse Trainer Certification, we'll automatically grant you the certificate…no additional fees, no waiting.
       Then use the
Professional Riding Instructor course order form to enroll in Instructor Role and Responsibility and Teaching Techniques .  Complete those courses and you'll be awarded your Professional Riding Instructor Certification.
Of course when you complete your BSU required courses you'll graduate with your Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies degree.
A degree and both "certifications" are yours earned virtually all at the same time with no additional costs.

  >  Do I need a horse?

You should have access to a horse for many of the courses.  You will need a horse for Training Performance Horses, Preparation for Competition, Equine Sports Massage, Dressage-Foundation for All Riding Disciplines, Showmanship in Hand and Traditional Vaquero Hackamore Training.

> What careers are there for me?
There are hundreds of careers available in the horse industry from  breeding manager to book editor...but before deciding what you want to do, consider your personal abilities and goals...then add "credentials" such as a Professional Certification or college degree.  Each of the following "major career fields" has many different job opportunities:  Horse breeding, racing, communications, health care, horse industry service, horse industry support, marketing and sales, manufacturing (tack, feed, equipment) research and education as well as transportation and facility management.  Of course, there is always the opportunity to create your own business. With credentials your choices are almost unlimited.
